NEXT Collective is a project that brings together some of the great young creative minds in modern jazz today.  Made up of Logan Richardson and Walter Smith III (saxophones), Matthew Stevens (guitar), Gerald Clayton and Kris Bowers (keyboards), bassist Ben Williams (bass) and Jamire Williams (drums), their debut album “Cover Art” features interpretations of songs by artists as diverse as D’Angelo (check out the very soulful take on Africa above), Bon Iver, Drake, N.E.R.D and Pearl Jam.  The album will be out February 26th on Concord Jazz.
